Budapest’s main international airport is Budapest Ferenc Liszt International Airport (BUD), located about 16 km southeast of the city center. Here are your options for getting to and from the airport:
- Airport Shuttle Bus: The 100E bus is a direct shuttle service that runs between the airport and downtown Budapest (Deák Ferenc Square). The journey takes about 35 minutes, and tickets can be purchased from vending machines or on the BKK app.
- Taxi: Taxis are available outside the arrivals terminal. Make sure to use Főtaxi, the official taxi service at the airport, to avoid overcharging. A taxi ride to the city center typically costs between 8,000–10,000 HUF (25–30 EUR), depending on traffic.
- Private Transfer: Several companies offer private transfers to and from the airport. These services can be booked in advance and provide door-to-door service, often at a flat rate.
- Train: The nearest train station to the airport is Ferihegy, and from there, you can take a train into the city center. However, this option is less convenient than the bus or taxi.
Choose the option that best fits your budget and timing, but the 100E bus is generally the most affordable and efficient way to get to central Budapest.
